Sweet Pea Lavender Fields – Understanding Our Lavender Varieties 💜

At Sweet Pea Lavender Fields, we grow two main types of lavender:

Lavandula angustifolia and Lavandula intermedia.

Each strain brings its own fragrance, beauty, and purpose to our fields — and together they create the lavender we love sharing with you.

Lavandula angustifolia (English Lavender)

What It Is:

Angustifolia lavender is known for its soft, sweet aroma, calming qualities, and compact growth habit. This is the classic “English lavender” used for teas, culinary blends, skincare, aromatherapy, and delicately scented dried bundles.

How It Grows:

• Shorter plants

• Shorter stems

• Softer, sweeter fragrance

• Earlier blooming

• Beautiful, tidy shape

Our Angustifolia Varieties:

Folgate – Lavender-blue blooms with a clean, sweet scent

Munstead – Compact, hardy, and richly fragrant

Hidcote Blue – Deep purple blooms with vibrant color

Dwarf White – Petite, compact, and beautifully white-flowered

Lavandula intermedia (Hybrid Lavender)

What It Is:

Intermedia lavender (also called lavandin) is a natural hybrid of Angustifolia and Spike lavender. It grows taller, with long, elegant stems and a bold, strong fragrance. Perfect for dried bundles, essential oils, and creating a stunning field display.

How It Grows:

• Taller plants

• Very long stems

• Strong, bold scent

• High essential oil production

• Excellent for crafting and bundles

Our Intermedia Varieties:

Grosso – Strong fragrance, long stems, perfect for oil

Phenomenal – Hardy, vigorous, and beautifully aromatic

Edelweiss – A striking white-blooming intermedia

From soft and calming to bold and vibrant — every variety adds its own magic to Sweet Pea Lavender Fields.

Each plant is grown with care and purpose, bringing beauty and fragrance to everything we create. .
